Reading exception reports without drowning in noise
An exception report without ranking is a second full-time job. Growing firms export every match break, every tolerance breach, and every aged credit, then stare at a list too long to finish before the next close.
A simple ranking we use in briefings
- Items that can move cash in the next payment run
- Items that distort vendor balances but are not payable this week
- Documentation tidy-ups that improve the next statutory visit
During an AP accuracy review, we force findings into those lanes so your team leaves the closing meeting with a sequence, not a fog. The third lane matters — it simply should not compete with a duplicate invoice about to be paid tomorrow.
